Heck, i haven't even had my ps3 for a whole year.Īnd to really kill things off, when people talk about the next gen, i hear only about Xbox 1 and WiiU. Most people shelled out 300 usd for a wii and 300 usd for a ps3 or xbox, and they know they're not going to do it this gen because it hurt too much before. They need next gen games to get people to buy those consoles before the price drop happens and they start loosing money because they bought too many consoles.
Stores know this, which is why no one is buying last gen games. Who wants to shell out 400 usd, especially when you go to amazon and they dropped a whole 0.99 usd just so they could say it's on sale (remember, the PS3 was the cheapest blu-ray player on the market when it came out)? Add the PS4's pay for online feature, when it's quite possible to make a 0 cost online setup for consoles. The PS3 is quite capable of spitting out cutting edge graphics, where the previous switch was for consoles to spit out HD graphics (the gain is significantly less ). And, aside from a handful of games, there is NO incentive to upgrade. The consoles before weren't that expensive, but they're just going up and up in price.
